67 Number Plate Release

67 Number Plate Release

New 67 number plates were released on 1st September. If you’ve started seeing them on the road and wonder what they mean, here’s everything you need to know.

When do the 67 plates come out?

They were first released on 1st September 2017 and will continue to be used for new cars for the next six months until the end of February 2018, when they will be replaced by number plates that feature 18.

What do the new number plates mean?

The middle number found on number plates is a simple way of identifying which time period the car was registered (although this isn’t possible with personalised plates) and 67 means it was registered between 1 September 2017 and 28 February 2018

The current dating system has been standard practice in the UK since 2001, when the new registration format was introduced. It will run until February 2051.
