Cargiant recommends... the BMW 330e

| In Car Reviews

If you are looking for a spacious, well equipped premium hybrid saloon car, then look no further than the BMW 330e, the winner of the WhatCar? Car of the Year 2020 ‘Best Plug-In Hybrid’ award. This blog post takes you through all the benefits of the excellent 330e.

Powertrain

The plug-in hybrid BMW 300e is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 7.6 kWh electric plug-in motor. Combined, the saloon produces 252bhp and can travel from 0-62mph in only 6.1 seconds. On electric power alone, the 330e is capable of 22 miles and 80% charge can take between only 2.2 and 3.5 hours.

Overall, the BMW 330e can return in excess of 130mpg and because they are hybrid vehicles, there is no ULEZ charge on any models.

Features

The BMW 330e is available in four specification grades, SE, Sport, Luxury and M Sport. In base SE guise, the car benefits from BMW Navigation System, Emergency Call, Bluetooth, DAB tuner, cruise control with brake function, automatic two-zone control air conditioning and heated mirrors in addition to array of other features. Sport spec adds features including Drive Performance Control, extended interior ambient lighting and front sport seats amongst others.

Moving up to Luxury spec, the 300e is available with a Dakota leather upholstery, 18” multi-spoke alloy wheels and a kidney grille with chrome finish. The range topping M Sport model adds an M Sport instrument cluster, aerodynamic body styling and suspension, LED fog lights and headlights and 18” M Sport alloy wheels.

Drive

The 330e retains the fantastic drive quality that has been the standard 3 Series a huge success ever since it’s launch back in 1975. Its handling is sharp and precise and suspension smooth. These factors combined along with its frugal engine, make the 300e ideal for both stop / start city traffic and long motorway cruises. The WhatCar? judges also made a special mention of the smoothness of the changeover from electric to petrol mode.

The BMW 330e starts from around £13,000 for a first generation 2016 model. Click here to take a look at our current range of the saloon car here and book yourself a test drive now.
