Volkswagen has announced the biggest ever fleet delivery of its cheap VW Caddy vans to British Gas.
The energy company has taken receipt of 5,300 of the cheap VW models, adding to the 1,000 Caddy vans it already owns.
Each model has been customised to include a 70 mile per hour speed limiter and bespoke racing.
"We are extremely pleased with the one thousand Caddy vans we've had since 2007 and our decision to order more Volkswagens is based on our analysis of whole-life costs, reliability and professional support available from the manufacturer," commented Colin Marriott, fleet general manager at British Gas.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles' national fleet manager Chris Blue said that the order is a strong example of important factors to consider when purchasing a new model: competitive whole-life costs, quality and durability and strong residual values.
Meanwhile, consumers may soon be able to invest in their own cheap VW as Volkswagen has announced it intends to participate in the scrappage scheme, which will see Britons given a grant of £2,000 towards the cost of a new vehicle.
