Green-minded consumers looking to invest in a new cheap Toyota might want to consider the third generation Prius.
This summer is set to see the model take its eco-credentials to the next level with its hybrid powertrain - Hybrid Synergy Drive.
First debuting in 2004, the powertrain has been completely revised, with more than 90 per cent of its components redesigned to boost fuel economy - potentially helping cheap Toyota customers save even more money.
Despite the car's power output being raised by 22 per cent to 134 bhp, the model offers impressive fuel economy of 72.4 miles to the gallon, marking an increase of ten per cent.
Additionally, with low emissions of 89 grams of CO2 per kilometre, the model is also set to qualify for low road tax.
The car can also run in electric mode alone, further reducing fuel use.
Earlier this month Toyota was voted the greenest vehicle manufacturer by Business Car magazine from among 19 rivals.
